Wine Lover, Today's Wine of the Day: Barolo 2007 Casa E. di Mirafiore

Why I chose this wine: The name Mirafiore is a name first established in the 1870s, a name which remained dormant for more than seventy years until its reappearance today. The wines are new and old too. New because their complete disappearance from the marketplace decades ago leaves an opportunity to create a powerful re-emergence; old because the method of vinification they have in common provides for strict observance of rules which can be traced back to rigorous of Piedmontese traditions. It all starts out from beautifully ripe grapes, sourced from prime vineyards in Barolo. The Wine Advocate scored it 92 points saying 'The 2007 Barolo is a sexy, radiant wine that captures the essence of the year. Soft and inviting through to the finish, the Barolo possesses tremendous class and balance...This is another overachieving wine..' -- Josh
